Claire Tansey

Hi, so nice to see you! By day I’m a recipe developer, culinary teacher and writer, and at night I cook at home with my sweetheart Michael and our little boy Thomas. I love cooking, and I want you to love it too.

I’ve been in the food business for 20 years, as a restaurant cook, baker, cooking teacher, test kitchen manager and restaurant critic. Along the way I played professional improv for 4 years and got a master’s degree in literature. I ended up as Food Director at Chatelaine magazine. Now I spend my time inspiring people to enjoy cooking so we can all lead happier, healthier lives.

I think of myself as a teacher, first and foremost. I'm here to empower you to cook at home so you can be happier and healthier in all aspects of life--wellness, budget, family, community and planet! So I've got easy, fun and delicious recipes to inspire you no matter what day it is, how much time you've got--or what's in your pantry.

So.....I’m pretty opinionated about food. It should never be fussy or perfect but always delicious. And cooking it should be fun–something to do for pleasure instead of out of obligation.

At home in Toronto, Michael and I cook every night. That’s anything from roast chicken to a tuna sandwich. Most weekends we entertain friends, and I always try to find time for baking. Thomas helps out in the kitchen too, although he’s more fond of bread and butter than anything else.

In my first book, Uncomplicated, you’ll find my go-to recipes (tested and tweaked over years of practice) as well as my views and opinions on all kinds of subjects.

I’d love to hear from you, so please drop me a line anytime at info@clairetansey[dot]com.
