Christal Gemeda

Christal Gemeda is an author of children's books. Her books include the "Simply Amharic" collection, the "Simply Swahili" collection, the "Simply Easy Books" (English only versions) and an array of educational and historical story books in the" Zien's Z's" and "Buck Brown's Borders" series as well as other quality, life-lesson driven, fun-filled yet informative children's books.

The mother of four sought out to create context that she would enjoy reading to her children. She partnered with her Mother-In-Law, Zahara Faris, to create bilingual collections for the children in their family. Her children are of both Ethiopian and American heritage, so she wanted to celebrate and reflect both of these amazing backgrounds in some of her books. The books cover many topics: learning Swahili, Amharic or English, becoming familiar with the rich history of Ethiopia, enjoying the amazing stories of each of America's 50 states, and soaking in important life lessons about working hard and being yourself are some themes found in her works. The messages of her story books convey common themes, "Be yourself. Learn for yourself. Love yourself."
