Jim Thompson

Jim Thompson is the most widely read author in the pulp and paper industry worldwide today. He is the author of nearly a dozen books on the pulp and paper industry and has written the weekly column “Nip Impressions” since 2001. He founded his consultancy, Talo (towel-O) Analytic International in 1992 which mainly works for financial institutions investing in the pulp and paper industry. He is also founder of the Light Green Machine Institute and Paperitalo (POP-ERR-E-towel-O) Publications, the largest electronic publisher in the pulp and paper industry worldwide. A graduate of the University of Cincinnati holding a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering, he spent the early years of his career with Procter & Gamble (as Engineering Supervisor), Westvaco (as Assistant Engineering Manager), Packaging Corporation of America (as Mill Manger) and finally with Jaakko Poyry where he was Executive Vice President. Jim and his wife Laura live in Duluth, Georgia. They have three grown children and two grandsons.
