I was born in a small fishing town of Washington, and grew up on the central coast of California. Many weekends were spent at the local library and at my dad's shop. A famous woodcarver, he told people that his kid sitting on the log reading a book would grow up to become a writer.
After serving ten years in the U.S. Army with three deployments under my belt, I sought a way to funnel my ambition. I started the imprint Zarfling Platoon! We create children's books and educational games for kids, all found at zarfling.com. I went to my dad's shop later to give him the first book I wrote, a children's picture book, to show him I became a writer like he said all those years ago. He said the reason he told people that was because I never took to the tools!
I live in Austin, Texas with my wife and kids. Many weekends include taking our kids to the library.
