Tobias Huch is a publicist and journalist specializing in the Middle East and security policy issues. When the "Islamic State" attacked the Kurdish regions in northern Iraq, he founded the aid organization "Liberale Flüchtlingshilfe e. V." (LIBERAID) and brought necessary aid supplies to the refugees in Iraq and Syria at the risk of his life. He provided evidence of numerous war crimes committed by the Turkish army in the region and documented the destruction of the Christian-Kurdish town of Nusaybin on Facebook (over 300,000 fans).
He has received numerous awards for his humanitarian work. These include an honorary doctorate (Dr. h. c.) from UMU in Liberia, after he volunteered to help rebuild a country destroyed by civil war, and the "Ring for Humanity" from the "Office of Yazidi Affairs" for rescuing thousands of Yazidis in Iraq between 2014 and 2017.
His book "KURDISTAN" has been a non-fiction bestseller since its publication and is considered the current standard work on Kurdistan and the Kurds. Middle East experts rate it as an excellent book that also gives laypeople a very good insight into the region.
