Craig Snyder

Craig Snyder is a retired professional boxer from Canfield, Ohio, only the 2nd Canfield resident and first Canfield High School graduate to have boxed professionally. After a 46-8, 22 KO amateur record in a career which started in 1978 and earned him 3 Youngstown Golden Gloves titles and 1 state ABF title he turned professional in June of 1985. On June 9, 1994 he squared off with recently deceased multiple World Champion Hector “Macho” Camacho, losing a 10-round decision. November 23, 1994 he defeated Veteran boxer Tommy Small to become the IBC Continental America’s Jr Middleweight Champion. Craig also challenged Adrian Dodson for the WBO Continental Jr Middleweight title in Belfast, Northern Ireland on December 2,1995. He lost his IBC title on April 27, 1996 to West Virginia Middleweight Champion Billy Fox and retired from the ring in 1998 with a record of 22-8, 13 KO’s. His love for the sport and pride in his hometown led him to write “The Boxers of Youngstown, Ohio: Boxing Capital of the World.”
