Ngozi Iwuoha was born in Nigeria to the family of Mr Bernard and Mrs Matilda Igbokwe. She studied at The University of Calabar, Nigeria. She migrated to the United States in 2010 and currently lives with her husband and children. She is an associate member of the Institute of Chartered accountants of Nigeria. She also won the prize for academic excellence from the Society of Women Accountants of Nigeria.
She is an alumni of the City University of New York, Queens College, where she did her graduate studies. She is a charter member of the National Museum of African American history and Culture.
Her name is listed on the Wall of Tolerance in Montgomery, Alabama in recognition of her contribution to the fight against hatred and intolerance.
Her immigration experience is the basis of her book "Beyond borders ".
