BJ Mann is a divorce mediator, speaker, workshop leader, and author of A Better, Not Bitter Divorce: The Fair and Affordable Way to End Your Marriage.
BJ successfully transitioned out of her first marriage and maintains a friendly relationship with her ex-husband as a co-parenting partner. In 2001, she added professional mediation training and credentials to what she learned in during her divorce to develop a successful, thriving divorce mediation practice.
She guides her clients through the divorce transition in a gentle, affordable and efficient manner. She informs men and women about the four main areas of divorce: children, legal, finances, and emotions. This helps the couple stay organized about and fully resolve issues throughout the divorce process.
Since 2013 she has regularly published blog articles about divorce, and in 2018 she published her first book to provide comprehensive information and resources for separating and divorcing women and men.
BJ teaches her Divorce 101 Workshop several times a year to help people become familiar with the divorce process and provide them with up-to-date information on divorce in New York State. She also an instructor for the Family and Divorce Mediation Training program recognized by the Association for Conflict Resolution.
She is a certified mediator for and volunteer with her local Center for Dispute Settlement. Her professional activities include past president of the Rochester Association of Family Mediators and former board director and current member of the New York State Council of Divorce Mediation. BJ is also a member of the Rochester Women's Giving Circle. In 1998 she received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Rochester Women's Network.
Prior to becoming a divorce mediator, BJ spent 30 years in business, mentoring, coaching and incommunity leadership as an employee of a telecommunications firm. Before retiring, she managed many departments including human resources and customer service.
A Rochester NY native, BJ has three grown children and a grandchild, has remarried, and is a foster mom for rescued dogs until they find their forever homes.
