Nico Sturm

Nico Sturm is professor of social management at IU. After studying social work at the Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences, he did his doctorate in the field of adult and further education at the Philipps University in Marburg. He expanded his management skills as part of an Executive MBA program at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz with stays abroad at the University of Adelaide (Australia) and Tongji University (Shanghai, China).

In addition to several years of experience in inpatient youth welfare and socio-pedagogical family support, Nico Sturm has managed several research projects as a project coordinator, worked in the management of a scientific center and headed the department for social affairs, sports and culture in a Hessian city with around 80 employees.

His previous research focus was on the fields of validation of competencies; the analysis and optimization of advisory structures; organizational development and cooperation management. At the IU, he deals with various fields of nonprofit management (social entrepreneurship, management and control of social institutions, quality management).
