Aryeh Green is the author of 'Finding Peace in the Promised Land - From Hatred to Humanity: Five Transformative Steps to Resolve the Arab-Israel Conflict'; and of 'My Israel Trail', about his hike on “Shvil Yisrael”, the 600-mile Israel National Trail from Dan to Eilat, and his struggle to come to terms with his unasked-for divorce. He serves as co-founder of Gigawatt Impact, a US 501(c)3 nonprofit bringing solar power to the most vulnerable communities on the planet, and as Chief Strategy Officer at EnergiyaGlobal, a renewable energy developer for Africa. His the former co-founder and director of MediaCentral, a Jerusalem-based project providing support services to foreign journalists based in or visiting Israel, promoting accuracy in reporting about the region.
Aryeh has been an advisor to former deputy prime minister Natan Sharansky and a high-tech business executive and consultant for the past four decades, and is a frequent and dynamic, captivating speaker.
A direct descendant of one of the first Jewish families in America, who arrived in 1690, Aryeh grew up in San Francisco and moved to Israel over 40 years ago. He was a policy advisor to Mr. Sharansky for over a decade; a member of the executive staff of Sharansky’s Yisrael B’Aliya party; and served as a senior member of Diaspora Affairs minister Sharansky’s staff in the prime minister’s office. There, Aryeh was responsible for contacts with Palestinian and other Arab democracy activists and for relations with the ‘next generation’ of Jewish leaders (under the age of 50) including coordinating support for Jewish students and faculty at universities around the world. He continues to be active in a number of initiatives promoting freedom and democracy in the Middle East.
Aryeh has spent over 30 years in business, mostly high-tech, holding management positions and performing consulting work for public and private Israeli companies, including ECI Telecom, Aladdin, Lannet, Bank HaPoalim, AudioCodes, and others, as well as multi-nationals such as Pfizer and Moto Guzzi.
Aryeh holds a BA in psychology from UC Berkeley, MA in international relations from Hebrew University, and MSc in business management from Boston University and Ben Gurion University. He lives happily in the town of Beit Shemesh in Israel and has three married children of his own, and happily inherited another six 'bonus' children when he married Miriam in August 2015; and when not spending time with his children and nine grandchildren, promoting renewable energy or accuracy in the media, and helping international audiences gain a more nuanced understanding of Israel and Middle East... Aryeh grows grapes and makes wine.
