Indigo Cox is physician and researcher who has been on the front lines taking care of women for over fifteen years. She currently lives with her husband, her two teenage daughters, and her perpetually puppy-like dog in Durham, North Carolina. She enjoys writing about women's lives and issues that impact herself and the women she serves. The two novels she has written depict the struggles uniquely endured by women of color.
Her debut novel, Native Girl Rites is a medical fiction novel, that draws from her own experiences as a female provider of color in the reproductive health care industry.
Her second novel, the first of a young adult fantasy series The Transitioners, features an African-American super-shero/shapeshifter. It was inspired by observing her own tenacious teenage daughters who are courageously wading their way through the murky waters of adolescence as brown girls.
She loves the intellectual and emotional challenges her clinical work brings, and is always inspired by the women she sees and the people she works alongside. She hopes to ignite discussion, and creative solutions to the oppression that shapes the lives of many women with her work.
