The old fellow who writes these books about Popoki lives in a small blue cottage on the eastern side of Hawai’i island, with his wife (whose name is not Wyline), two beautiful cats (whose names are not Silk nor Silver), and one mottled, brown cat with a decidedly crooked tail who still, after eleven years, simply glows with an undeniable inner beauty (and whose name, as I’m sure you have guessed, is not Popoki).
The author fills his days writing, and drawing, and reading, and helping his wife tend to what he would argue is perhaps the most beautiful garden on the eastern side of the island. He also builds, and bakes, and spends time thinking and looking and listening carefully to the world around him. And like Popoki, he loves to travel, and longs to go (someday) to the very farthest interesting place.
