Jennifer Venner

Jennifer Venner (1971 - ) is a Toronto-based author and playwright. Her first novel, Blue Suicide was published in 2015 and found public interest for its theme of police brutality at a time when stories of police abuse of authority were everywhere in the news. Her association with the Special Investigations Unit in Toronto gave her insight into the problem of how mental illness is often stigmatized in law enforcement, leading to unnecessary injury, even death. She was interviewed on television and radio regarding the subject matter.

Jennifer Venner is working on her second book, a memoir that includes her experience working for the Russian mafia in Moscow in the 1990s and the spectre of mental illness and addiction in her family. She continues to advocate for mental health issues in the community.
