Richard Wilson Moss

My first poem, written in 1965 at the tender age of 13:

Light Summer Days

There persisted mild in manner a twitch of breeze

Which tumbled down among the dried and lost

Funneled swiftly through the world

While the aging sun still surged and seized

Brooks were broken and robbed of flow

And leaves were fading green and strung

Across sorrowful and withered branches.

Day by day the heavens darkened sad

One morn the bluest sky was gray

Flurries made the warm earth mad

And all the trees could only sense a cold haze

Trying to feel again the light of summer days.
