Ms. Sofia Chen

Sofia Chen co-authors children activity books that teach young children ages four and up about cognitive and STEM concepts through fun, engaging brick building projects. She draws the cover illustration, tests the projects' brick building steps to ensure that they are kid-friendly, and chooses names and color themes for the various projects in the activity books.

Currently, Sofia is a fourth grader at Hugo Reid Elementary School. She loves playing brick buildings with Natalie, her little sister, after school. Besides playing with bricks, Sofia also enjoys drawing, playing the piano and the viola, gardening and helping her mom fundraise money for special-needs children. Sofia has received many character awards - Citizenship, Fairness, Responsibility, Caring - from her school; the one she is most proud of is for her Random Act of Kindness award.

Sofia was born in Singapore and is Chinese-Thai-American. She currently lives in Arcadia, California, with her parents. She loves to travel to various countries to taste their food and experience new playgrounds. Sofia hopes one day to help more special needs children through play-based activities. She wants ALL children to have fun while playing to learn and grow.
