Janice Riley is an author, photographer, and blueberry farmer. She is the proprietor of Hokum Rock Blueberry Farm on Cape Cod with her partner, and co-author, Stephen Spear. She designed and maintains their website: www.hokumrockfarm.com. She was previously a documentary editor for WGBH TV, Boston's PBS affiliate, and Christian Science Monitor TV. Independently, as Riley Films, she created a well-received and evocative feature-length documentary with noted author and environmentalist John Hay of Cape Cod (recipient of the John Burroughs Prize for "The Great Beach") entitled, "John Hay's The Run, A Journey That Never Ends." Ms Riley is also a librarian and educator who cares deeply about the natural world. She holds a BA in Anthropology, with honors, from Wellesley College. This is her first published book. "Out in Blue Fields, A Year at Hokum Rock Blueberry Farm" has received numerous literary awards including Best Non-Fiction Book, NE Region from both NIEA and IPPY, 2019, and Best Narrative Non-Fiction Book, IPNE, 2018, as well as design awards. The couple live on Cape Cod and split their time between their farmhouse in East Dennis and their pond house in Brewster which they share with two Jack Russell terriers and a cat.
