Dr. Kevin Clarke is Associate Professor of Sacred Scripture and Patristics at Sacred Heart Major Seminary. His research, which intersects with various exegetical and theological themes, has primarily focused upon Biblical interpretation in early Christianity (New Testament and patristic authors), especially their spiritual exegesis and readings that harmonize both Old and New. He works on Maximus the Confessor and has completed several translations of his works, including the Opuscula and the Dispute with Pyrrhus (Fathers of the Church Series vol. 151, CUA Press, 2026) and the Chapters on Love (Brepols, 2026, in press). He has co-edited two collections of essays: Maximus the Confessor and the Latin West in Brill’s Studies in Catholic Theology series (2026), and Patristic Spirituality: Classical Perspectives on Ascent in the Journey to God, published in Brill’s Studies in Theology and Religion series (2022). He also edited Seven Deadly Sins examining the Church Fathers’ sayings on the capital vices and the virtues that heal them (CUA, 2018). His published research in patristics has touched on a variety of Biblical, dogmatic, anthropological, and moral themes. He is the U.S.A. National Correspondent for the International Association of Patristics Studies (AIEP-IAPS) and a Senior Editor of Patristic Theology, an open-source peer-reviewed journal.
