Bonnie R. Schultz

Bonnie R. Schultz has always loved to write. While living in Boston, she worked as a copywriter and then a technical writer in the software industry. After evaluating database packages and documenting database features in various software products, she fell in love with databases and their essential logic. Having experienced the mayhem from a poorly implemented information system, she found that the success of a business was greatly dependent upon good database design.

While working as a freelance journalist, editor, and tutor, she had many discussions with Dr. Jonathan Eckstein about the need for a database textbook that aptly combines theory with hands-on application, such that the reader can acquire a knowledgeable and useful foundation in database design. Most introductory MIS textbooks provided a broad but superficial introduction to the field, while others proved to be too technical for beginners. With this in mind, they wrote "Introductory Relational Database Design for Business with Microsoft Access."
