Rabbi John Rosove

John L. Rosove is Senior Rabbi Emeritus of Temple Israel of Hollywood, Los Angeles, where he served as Senior Rabbi from 1988 to 2019.

He served as the national chairperson of the Association of Reform Zionists of America (ARZA) (2016-2018) and as a national co-chair of the Rabbinic and Cantorial Cabinet of J Street (2012-2016; 2019-2024).

He received the World Union for Progressive Judaism International Humanitarian Award (2002) and special commendation from the State of Israel Bonds. In 2013 he was honored by J Street at its Fifth Anniversary Celebration in Los Angeles.

John is the author of “Why Judaism Matters – Letters of a Liberal Rabbi to His Children and the Millennial Generation” (Nashville: Jewish Lights, 2017), “Why Israel [and its Future] Matters – Letters of Liberal Rabbi to his Children and the Millennial Generation” (New Jersey: Ben Yehuda Press, 2019 – updated 2023 edition), and "From the West to the East – A Memoir of a Liberal American Rabbi" (Fresno: West of West Books, 2024). He is a co-editor of "Deepening the Dialogue – Jewish Americans and Israelis Envisioning the Jewish-Democratic State" (New York: CCAR Press, 2020 - Hebrew and English).
