Dana Goldstein

From the age of 13, I've been trying to write a book. I have a vivid memory of sitting at my hand-me-down desk that took up half a wall in my room with a neat line of new pens to my left. In front of me was Hilroy lined notebook, it's mint green cover unspoiled. I opened to the first page, picked up a pen and wrote "Once upon a time".

Since that clichéd start, I followed my path and passion for writing by going to journalism school and working as a print, television and radio reporter and editor. After taking a break from chasing stories to raise two spectacular human beings, I returned to the creative field at the creative director and founder of a digital content marketing company located in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

In January of 2017, I could no longer ignore the call of the word, and started working on a book of memoirs, telling the stories that had the most impact on my life so far. The Girl in the Gold Bikini was published in January of 2018. I never anticipated the response to the book would be so overwhelming. Over and over, women told me I had told their story, too, about their relationship to food and family.

In February 2021, I published my second memoir, Murder on my Mind: A Memoir of Menopause. It's an extremely honest, candid and sometimes gross telling of my own experience moving from perimenopause through to post-menopause.

In August of 2022, my third memoir hit the shelves. This time, I shared the stories from my disastrous decade as a retail manager. The stories in those pages will make you laugh, cry and shake your head.

I moved into writing fiction, with my first novel publishing in 2023, then three more follwed in 2024 (×2) and 2026.
