I am an Associate Professor of Political Science and the Pre-Law Program Director at California State University, Bakersfield. I write about the intersection of religion and politics, with particular attention to male and female religious leaders in the American Catholic Church, which has been featured in the Journal of Communication and Religion and Fieldwork in Religion. I also research and write in various areas of American politics, such as the presidency, elections, and judicial behavior. My political commentary and analysis has been featured in a variety of regional, national, and international media sources, such as Kern Radio, PolitiFact, the Los Angeles Time, the Christian Science Monitor, German National Public Radio, La Nacion, and the BBC. I have also written blog posts for Religion News Service and Religion in Public. I earned by PhD in Political Science from Claremont Graduate University in 2015 and am currently a law school student through Monterey College Law.
