Ms Ny M Jones

Born in East London, Nyesha “Ny” M. Jones is an author whose work is rooted in purpose, truth-telling, and the lived experiences of her children. After studying Psychology, Media and English Literature, she built a long career in Learning and Development, an unexpected path that strengthened her ability to translate complex human behaviour into stories that connect, comfort and illuminate.

Ny’s writing journey began when her eldest son’s school requested books that reflected his culture and experience. Although shelves were filled with beautiful celebrations of his heritage, none helped him feel more akin to his peers; they only highlighted his differences. *Dressed in Peace* was the story she wrote because she could not find the one he needed anywhere else. It became the foundation of her purpose-led approach to storytelling.

Her second book, *What Is That You Eat?*, continued this mission of bridging cultural understanding, this time through food, inviting children to recognise differences without defining one another by them.

Ny’s third book, "Carly", marked her transition into Young Adult fiction. Inspired by a lockdown school reunion WhatsApp group, she found herself reflecting on the masks children wear in the playground, the unseen challenges shaping those masks, and the trajectories they follow into adulthood. She wrote the story for her younger self and her daughter, an exploration of how differently she might have seen herself, others and the world if she had understood the people behind the performances.

Her latest work, *Translucent*, is written for her youngest child, born in 2022. Initially advised to prepare for a more transparent condition, she soon discovered that his needs were far more nuanced; subtle, shifting, and often invisible to others. As she navigates life in the space between purpose and diagnosis, *Translucent* sheds light on the invisible weights families carry and the compassion required to meet them with truth and understanding.

Across all her books, Ny’s intention remains constant:

to reveal the parts people miss.

In *Dressed in Peace*, she uncovers the shared humanity beneath religious dress.

In her YA work, she lifts the veil on childhood masks and the silent stories behind them.

And in *Translucent*, she illuminates the unseen challenges and unseen strengths of neurodiverse children.

Through every page, Ny seeks to bring truth to light, one translucent layer at a time.
