My name is Tim Alsup - thanks for checking out my author page!
Since 2005, I have served as the Preaching Minister for the Great Oaks Church of Christ in Memphis, TN. I believe strongly in the transforming power of God and His word, and I love the process of helping people - starting with myself - grow to be both more faithful to God and more missional for the gospel. Outside of ministry, my hobbies include reading, sports, and enjoying life with my family.
FAMILY – I was born in Memphis, but I grew up in Murfreesboro, TN, near Nashville. I met my wife, Arinne, at West Kentucky Youth Camp (in Marion, KY) in the summer of 2000. We went to school together at Freed-Hardeman University (Henderson, TN), and we were married in Arinne’s hometown of Benton, KY in December 2002. We have 3 children: Riley (born in 2008), Eian (2011), and Reese (2014).
EDUCATION – I received undergraduate degrees in Bible and Mathematics from Freed-Hardeman University in Henderson, TN (2002), and later I completed a Master of Arts Degree in New Testament Studies from Freed-Hardeman (2005) and a Master of Divinity degree from Harding School of Theology in Memphis (2015). I also received a Doctor of Ministry degree from Harding School of Theology (2023), doing my dissertation project on equipping Christians for effective evangelism in our changing culture.
MINISTRY – During my Freed-Hardeman undergraduate years, I preached on weekends for the Eddyville (KY) Church of Christ, where I later served as the full-time preacher from 2003-2005 before coming to Great Oaks. Prior to beginning my full-time work at Eddyville, I served a short time as an Associate Minister with the Como (MS) Church of Christ. I began serving as Great Oaks’ Preaching Minister in October, 2005.
