Neil Johnson

Neil Johnson was born and raised in the North East of England; for the past 20 years he has lived with his family in Birmingham where he serves as a Methodist minister. He was awarded his PhD at the University of Birmingham in 2015, having been supervised through his research on the Labour Church movement by Professor Hugh McLeod. 'The Labour Church: the movement and its message' was published in 2018. Neil became an Honorary Research Fellow of the Queen’s Foundation, Birmingham, and now continues to study matters of faith and politics as a member of the Urban Theology Union in Sheffield. Along with colleagues from the Birmingham Methodist Circuit, Neil Johnson was co-editor of the 'Holy Habits' discipleship programme. In 2021, Neil produced his first children's book with his daughter, Anna, as illustrator. His most recent work, 'Keir Hardie’s Creed', was published in 2023.
