“The Amazing Adventures of Aya & Pete” is a children’s travel book series inspired by author Serena Minott's real-life experiences living in Europe and Africa, and traveling around the world with her young daughter (and co-author), Asha. At just 5 years old, Asha has attended school on three different continents and traveled to over 20 countries, including Ethiopia, Greece, Iceland, Indonesia, Netherlands, Senegal, Singapore, Tanzania and Turkey.

Throughout their travels, Serena sought out books to encourage her daughter’s love of

reading and budding interest in the world, but soon found there was a gap in the market.

This inspired Serena, an attorney, author and entrepreneur, to create their own line of children’s books to share the wonder and magic of travel with other children and their families. The result is a collection of beautifully illustrated books that tell the stories of a little girl boldly exploring the world and learning a lot about different places and cultures in the process.

Note from the Authors - At a young age, Asha has met children all around the world,

seen how they live, learned the games they play and tasted the foods they eat. Through

these experiences, we have seen first-hand how much the world has to teach children –

not only culture and language, but also empathy, compassion and the shared human

experience. In writing these stories, we hope to inspire other children, especially girls and

children of color, to see themselves in Aya, and to feel empowered to dream big and to

know that the world is theirs and that they belong in it as much as anyone else.
