C.J. Mac

Born in Rochester, MI, in 1944, I was adopted at age 5 by loving parents who took me to live in Flint, MI where I eventually graduated from high school, then Hurley School of Nursing, then Flint U o M with a bachelor's degree in Clinical Community Psychology. I married at age 20 and by age 31, I had 4 children, all boys, who will always be the joy of my life. Then, in 1977, we decided to adopt a daughter and I decided to remain at home to raise the kids. I returned to work in 1987 and there began my associations with all kinds of people, many of whom formed the images of some of the characters in the book that took me so long to complete. My life has been full of ups and downs, sad times and happy days, just like most folks, and I have tried to step back and take a look at how I really feel about important things in this life that is so short. I began to formulate a background story that might allow me to speak to certain issues and I carried around a small tape recorder to keep track of how I wanted to develop my story and how to make the characters speak the words that were inside of me. Twenty plus years later, after I had retired from work and my husband and I moved from Flint to Oscoda, I finally finished the novel and felt a huge sense of accomplishment. Self publishing the finished product was very difficult for me, so I sought the advice of others who had already accomplished this goal and I'm so very grateful for their help. Volunteering in my community keeps me very busy on most days, but I do take time each day to thank God for my blessings and find something to do that gives me enjoyment. Writing has brought me more joy than I imagined it could this late in life, and I encourage anyone reading this to pursue your passions, no matter how difficult it may seem or how long it takes. Life is good.
