John O. Milewski

John O. Milewski is a maker, welder, author, inventor, engineer and Fellow of the American Welding Society. After starting his career in light and heavy industry, he spent the majority of his 32-year career at Los Alamos National Laboratory, in the Materials Science and Technology: Metallurgy Group, in positions ranging from technologist to scientist. In the 1990’s he was part of a high energy entrepreneurial team pioneering the rapid prototyping and near-net shaping of metals, now known as 3D printing or additive manufacturing (AM). His new book Additive Manufacturing of Metals, is a resource for newcomers to the field, providing a road map to where the technology stands today and where it is headed tomorrow.
