Andrew Alan Johnson

Andrew Alan Johnson received his PhD in cultural anthropology from Cornell University in 2010, after doing fieldwork on new urban spaces in Southeast Asia for several years. Following his Ph.D., he held postdoctoral positions at Columbia University's Weatherhead East Asian Institute and the National University of Singapore's Asia Research Institute, and tenure-track Assistant Professor positions at Yale-NUS College, Princeton University and Sogang University (in Seoul, South Korea). He is currently an Associate Professor at Stockholm University and is the writer for the game Sid Meier's Civilization.

His work has been published in top anthropology journals such as Cultural Anthropology, American Ethnologist, Anthropological Quarterly, Social Analysis and in regional journals such as the Journal of Southeast Asian Studies, South East Asia Research, among others.

He is fluent in Thai and Lao.
