BirdNote

Ellen Blackstone has always loved birds and nature, shaped by her childhood in the beautiful rolling hills of Iowa. Beckoned by new adventures, she traveled widely for a number of years, finally settling in Seattle. Ellen has worked in the tech and nonprofit worlds, including serving on the board of the Seattle Audubon and as editor/publisher of the chapter's newsletter.

In 2004, Chris Peterson, who had recently founded BirdNote, invited her to join the budding team. It was a perfect match. Ellen managed the BirdNote website, wrote and helped edit scripts, and provided feedback during studio recording sessions. Now associate producer and web manager, she has the enviable job of looking at thousands of beautiful photos, as she searches for the perfect image to complement a BirdNote story. Well, somebody has to do it.

She is honored to work with all of the authors of the BirdNote stories and the rest of the BirdNote team.
