I have called three countries my home, each of which I carry close to my heart. India, the land of my birth and childhood helps keep me rooted. Memories of growing up with my grandmother’s stories, or mischief with cousins remind me of the network of strength I carry with me always.
My twelve years in the British colony of Hong Kong helped me branch out in the land where east meets west. During my teen years there I immersed into a variety of cultures, languages and lifestyles.
United States of America has been home for the past 3 decades, the country where I earned a degree, acquired a loving husband, developed my career in the financial field, raised my daughter now out of the nest, and discovered my love for writing.
Today I call myself the trunk of a tree with deeply grounded roots from India, flourishing branches spread out globally that started in Hong Kong and now, America, which helps me hold both ends sturdily together.
I have a blog where I post short stories or poems, www.bela-stories.blogspot.com, have completed one novel, and started another one. All my stories represent my tree, may it be the roots, the branches, the flowers, the veins or even the trunk!
