Klint Janulis

Klint Janulis is an archaeologist expert in prehistory and experimental survival techniques. He is a former US Marine and US Army Special Forces soldier, combat medic, and survival instructor with a background in palaeoanthropology and geology.

Serving three combat tours in Iraq and working with local Iraqis created a deep interest in Anthropology and the intersection of human culture, technology, and evolution. After 14 years in the military, he returned to University where his military experiences guided his studies briefly into medical research and ultimately into Palaeoanthropology and geology.

Klint is currently applying his experiences and education to better understand the mind, technology, and hunting practices of prehistoric humans. In his academic work at the University of Oxford, where he is currently finishing his doctorate degree, he blends experimental archaeology with cognitive studies to understand the evolution of human cognition and intelligence. He serves as Co-Director of the Center For Cognitive Archaeology at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs, a program that provides courses on understanding the relationship of human evolution, cognition, and the influences that made us who we are today.

In addition to writing, Klint is also known for his work as the host of the UK Channel 5’s ‘10,000 B.C’ and currently works as a presenter for several science and history-based shows for both UK- and US-based television channels, including the History Channel, BBC History, and Discovery Science Channel.
