Clifford Louis Gans

Cliff Gans has had a life long interest with history, who, before writing The Golden Star of Shanghai, was a senior program manager for The McGraw-Hill Education Companies – CTB, managing the scoring of statewide assessments for K through 12 education. Cliff worked with state departments of education, the Department of Defense Educational Agency and was fortunate to also work on an international contract in the Middle East, Qatar and its Supreme Education Council, which provided him with the opportunity to see, meet, and work with other people and cultures. Cliff is an avid hiker and enjoys visiting historic sites, particularly those associated with the Gold Rush and early California history. With The Golden Star of Shanghai, Cliff hopes to reinvigorate interest in this history, prompting road trips to sites like the Malakoff Diggins, Sutter's Mill, and the many charming mining towns found in the Gold Country.

Cliff Gans lives in the Sierra foothills, where he eats, sleeps, and drinks with his wife and two dogs.
