Namaste,
I’m Vaidya Kanikaa Kamalkant, and I’ve been practicing Ayurveda for over 15 years.
My journey into Ayurveda began on a deeply personal note. As a child, I was allergic to several commonly prescribed allopathic medications, which led me to explore alternative systems of healing. What began as a necessity soon became a calling—and eventually, my life’s work.
From a very young age, I was able to heal several of my own health challenges through natural medicine. One of the most significant of these was adolescent epilepsy. While I explored many approaches, the only thing that truly helped me achieve lasting relief was meditation.
With consistent practice of Heartfulness meditation, something remarkable began to happen. I learned to sense an episode even before it fully emerged. In those moments, I felt a deep inner clarity and strength—I could consciously choose how to respond.
More than once, I experienced the attack soften, dissolve, and completely melt away when I chose not to engage with it. It was one of the most powerful and divine moments of my life, a lived realization of the mind’s immense influence over the body.
This experience left a lasting imprint on me. I sincerely wish that every person living with epilepsy could know that such inner possibilities exist, and that they, too, may discover their own source of strength and awareness.
I am also deeply grateful to my meditation teacher, who not only guided me inward but also initiated me into the path of Ayurveda. That guidance became the bridge between my inner experiences and my lifelong dedication to healing.
Therefore, I am sure about this thing - lasting healing rarely comes from medication alone. Instead, it emerges from simple yet intentional changes in lifestyle and diet. Permanent healing is only possible when we live in harmony with our individual constitution. My aim has always been to empower people to heal themselves—gently, sustainably, and consciously.
Initially, I started off as a general physician trying to cure common ailments.
But, as my understanding deepened, my focus naturally shifted toward the mind. I came to see that almost all disorders are either created or resolved there.
This approach led me to study modern psychotherapy, with a special emphasis on mindfulness and meditation; and their impact on the body and overall health.
Today, my exclusive and deepest area of work lies in Ayurvedic psychology—a field that continues to leave me spellbound. I have worked extensively on the basics of Ayurvedic psychology, Ayurvedic personality types, and the Ayurvedic ideal social structure based on soul standardization.
This is a dimension of knowledge truly unique to ancient Indian wisdom. While other civilizations have classified the mind and the body, Ayurveda alone offers a clear and sophisticated understanding of the soul and its role in health, behavior, and society. This depth and clarity continue to inspire awe in me every single day.
My core expertise is Satvavajaya Chikitsa, Ayurveda’s approach to mental and emotional well-being. Alongside this, I am actively working toward developing and contributing to the field of Ayurvedic psychotherapy and psychiatry, bridging classical wisdom with contemporary understanding.
My Current Work
In recent years, my work has evolved beyond healing the body and mind into a deeper question:
Why are so many people living lives that don't feel like their own?
I saw intelligent, capable people struggling with stress, burnout, career dissatisfaction, and a constant feeling of being "misplaced." It became increasingly clear that many of these problems were not simply psychological or physical—they arose because people were working against their own nature.
This realization led me back to the Bhagavad Gita and the psychological foundations of Ayurveda.
After years of study, research, clinical observation, and contemplation, I developed what I now call the Varna Career Alignment Framework.
It is a practical framework based on Guna, Karma, and Svabhava that helps individuals discover their natural way of contributing to the world and build careers that are aligned with their inner nature.
Unlike conventional career assessments that measure changing interests or personality traits, this framework seeks to understand the deeper patterns that shape how we naturally think, learn, lead, create, serve, and grow.
Today, this has become the primary focus of my work.
Why I Wrote Calculate Your Caste
One question repeatedly emerged during my research:
What did Varna originally mean?
The answer I found was profoundly different from what most of us have been taught.
Calculate Your Caste examines the original concept of Varna through the lens of the Bhagavad Gita, Ayurveda, and classical Indian psychology. Rather than viewing Varna as a birth-based identity, it explores it as a framework for understanding one's natural qualities, work, and purpose.
The book invites readers to question long-held assumptions and rediscover a perspective that has practical relevance for education, careers, leadership, and personal growth.
Its purpose is not to divide people into categories, but to help them understand themselves more deeply.
The Shocking Truth About the Caste System
My second book, The Shocking Truth About the Caste System, continues this journey of exploration through India's classical knowledge systems.
Drawing upon authentic verses and references from the Bhagavad Gita, Mahabharata, Manusmriti, Rig Veda, Upanishads, Puranas, Charaka Samhita, and other traditional Sanskrit texts, the book examines what these original sources actually say about Varna, its purpose, and its role in society.
Rather than relying on popular interpretations or modern narratives, the book encourages readers to engage directly with the primary texts and explore their meanings in context. Wherever possible, the original Sanskrit verses are presented alongside translations and explanations, allowing readers to examine the evidence and form their own conclusions.
Whether readers ultimately agree or disagree with my interpretations, my hope is that the book inspires thoughtful dialogue, independent inquiry, and a renewed appreciation for the depth and sophistication of India's philosophical heritage.

An Invitation
If there is one idea I hope you carry with you, it is this:
You were not meant to spend your life trying to become someone else. You were meant to discover who you already are. When your work reflects your deepest nature, effort becomes joyful, contribution becomes meaningful, and success becomes sustainable.
I invite you to explore the Varna Career Alignment Framework, rediscover your natural gifts, and create a career—and ultimately a life—that is truly aligned with your inner nature.
Thank you for being part of this journey.
Jīvem Śaradaḥ Śatam.
May we all live with health, wisdom, purpose, and inner freedom for a hundred years.
