A global authority on leadership and management in luxury hospitality, Mr. Kanani has interviewed hundreds of luxury hoteliers and award-winning chefs from around the world, work that has led to three books on the leadership disciplines of the world's finest operators. He has also interviewed more than 600 of the world's foremost executives and innovators throughout his career for major media across business, politics, the arts, and more — including Justin Trudeau, Tony Blair, Jeff Skoll, Michael Bloomberg, Alicia Keys, Madonna, James Cameron, José Andrés, and the late Anthony Bourdain.
His first book, A WEALTH OF INSIGHT: The World's Best Luxury Hoteliers on Leadership, Management, and the Future of 5-Star Hospitality, was lauded by leading hospitality schools and industry executives globally as required reading for current and aspiring luxury hotel managers. Dr. Dimitrios Diamantis of Les Roches called it "an impressive, long-overdue publication of this nature and magnitude."
His second book, A WEALTH OF INSIGHT: The World's Best Chefs on Creativity, Leadership and Perfection, profiled nearly 45 culinary icons who have collectively amassed nearly 100 Michelin stars and who regularly appear atop the World's 50 Best Restaurants, La Liste, James Beard, and other international rankings and awards. The foreword by Chef Ferran Adrià of elBulli 1846 and five-time winner of the World's Best Restaurant hailed the book as "the first-ever comprehensive and authentic exploration of originality in contemporary cuisine."
The Luxury of Attention (August 2026) is the synthesis of those two earlier projects and the years of continued listening that have followed. Drawing on interviews with eighty hoteliers and chefs across five continents, together with ongoing conversations with many of them in the years since, this new book brings the two crafts into a single conversation for the first time, on the conviction that the world's greatest luxury hoteliers and the world's greatest chefs practice the same craft — the discipline of human attention applied to other human beings — and that what they have always known is what the rest of the world is finally learning to call luxury.
