Retirement, grandchildren and Parkinson’s happened all at once in Dr. Eleanor Johnston’s life. This adjustment period was shared with her husband, the Rev. Dr. Wayne Fraser. Gradually assuming his role as primary caregiver, Fraser also devoted himself to working as a part-time Anglican priest and pursuing his interest in Hemingway studies. Johnston was reading, mostly music and theology, in preparation to write and self-publish three novels, each with its distinctive style and topic. Writing Shaking Parkinson’s pushed Johnston to acknowledge her own real-time diagnosis. And the difficult but enthralling writing process produced this story that will hopefully inspire readers to talk through the difficulties and joys of life. With Fraser, she keeps active with biking, walking, swimming, Pilates, fitness, gardening, dancing and traveling and other physical activities.
