P. C. Simon

P. C. Simon was born in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Her early childhood was

shaped by years of traveling and living around the world, due to her father’s

extensive active duty career in the United States Air Force. While the family

lived in Bermuda, her mother constantly read to her and helped create the

vivid imagination P. C. Simon uses in her books today. By the time she attended

primary school in Japan, she had already begun a collection of books such as

Treasure Island, Black Beauty, Swiss Family Robinson, Wizard of Oz, Sherlock

Holmes, and many more. During her high school and college years in the

United States, she discovered her love of creating characters and writing stories.

P. C. Simon’s love for writing children’s books arrived in her life at the same time

as her children. She created stories with characters that represented each of

her children while charting adventures in fantasy lands, dream worlds, and

enchanted places. By placing each child into the story, she helped the story

come to life in a special way for each child. She uses books to awaken children’s

imaginations and open their minds to new possibilities in today’s world. She has

often stated, “An imagination is a terrible thing to waste.”
