Melisa Buie

Melisa Buie has made lasers and loads of other stuff throughout her career. She has worked on solving both engineering and business problems. Melisa began her career at the Naval Research Laboratory in Washington, DC as a research scientist where she worked on theoretical lasers. Melisa has worked for Fortune 500 Companies, Applied Materials and Lam Research. She spent 15 years at Coherent, Inc. and lectured at San Jose State University.

Melisa has co-authored more than 40 technical publications and holds 5 patents. Her degrees include a PhD from the University of Michigan in Nuclear Engineering / Plasma Physics, a MS in Physics from Auburn University and a BS in Mathematics from Troy University. She has certifications from the Stanford University Graduate School of Business and Santa Clara University. Melisa has a Six Sigma Black Belt and is a volunteer with the Association for Manufacturing Excellence.

She lives with a goofy, wonderful Bergamasco Sheepdog named Roo.
