Anna Mayfair

Anna Mayfair-Diaz was raised in Miami, Florida and born in Havana, Cuba. Her family defected Communist Cuba during the Freedom Flights in the early 60's after the revolution in 1959. Her father was a political commissioner during the Spanish Civil War in the 1930's and escaped before the Fascist Franco troops infiltrated their village in Viego, Asturias, a Celtic province. Her writing especially with her debut novel, "The Forgotten Note," is strongly influenced by her father's life. She hopes to write a historical fiction about her father's plight. Anna was a former hotelier, healthcare worker, and studied Marine Biology and Art History before publishing. Anna is enamored with the ocean and marine life preservation. She is a former SAG actor in commercials and print. She moved to the San Francisco Bay area in her 20's and fell in love with the magnificent coastline, redwood trees, and charming city. She loves aviation, music, gardening, and hiking and became a PADI Scuba diver way back in her high school senior year. She remembers diving in the Florida Keys when the corals were bright in color before the horrific bleaching. In 2019, Anna hiked the El Camino trail from Samos to Santiago de Compostela in Spain.

In early 2023, she was diagnosed with anal cancer stage 3 and received chemotherapy and radiation. She is recovering and doing very well after 6 months. Anna raised a son who is a pilot and is a grandmother too. Anna hopes to tune her guitar and start strumming and singing on the happy trails again. Her Puchy, the Japanese Chin doggie in many of her photography on Pinterest passed away in 2021 and her other black doggie, Charlie the Chiweenie, who is now 15 years old lives with her son and family in the midwest. She continues to live in the wine country in Sonoma County and hopes to begin travelling in 2024 and blogging and developing her next novel. Anna hopes to continue battling her cancer disease until her wonderful medical team says, "It's in remission."

Anna is grateful for everyday of her life as she is a survivor from an intense life of many obstacles while growing up and now dealing with her illness. She hopes that all of her young readers follow their hearts, be brave, and aim high. "Study or work in a field you love and be real. Don't be afraid to show your colors. A rainbow of colors gives the world hope and we all learn from each other," says the author.

The author hopes to resume her writing and share her diverse characters with her beloved young readers and old alike.
