Mick Twemlow is a highly experienced British truck driver. During a thirty year truck driving career he spent twenty two years driving internationally, outside of the U.K. His travels took him to every country in Europe with the exception of Norway. He also made numerous trips to the Middle East and actually lived and operated his own truck in Moscow for five years.
During this five year period, from 1990 to 1995 he experienced at first hand the anti Gorbachev coup, having been trapped in the city while it took place.
Having retired from truck driving Mick then began to write about his experiences and has so far produced three book. "The Vodka Cola Cowboy", which describes his time in Moscow. "Trucking Magic", which describes the period from 1978 until 1983, when he drove for Pro-Motor Ltd and his work took him all over Europe and to the Middle East. His third book "The Champagne Truckers", sees him return to describing his time in the ex-Soviet Union with new, previously unpublished stories of the time that he spent there. All of his books include a broad mixture of situations that occurred, ranging from the comic to the extremely harrowing.
Although his works are written from the perspective of a truck driver he also analyses the social and ecological conditions as they were in those countries during that time. He therefore adds a social, economic and political dimension.
Mick now lives in Ramsgate in England, with his wife Sue and spends his time writing, playing bass guitar in bands and building model railways.
