Trevor Stott-Briggs

Trevor Stott-Briggs was born in 1949 in a grey and miserable, post-war era, Lancashire mill town. Hating cold weather and rain - both in abundance in Lancashire - he longed to travel to warmer climes. Leaving UK in 1976 he set out across Africa in a Land Rover with a few friends. When he arrived in Kenya he was offered a job for 6 months but ended up working there for over 6 years. Then the travel bug hit again, so he took a job in the Philippines where another short contract morphed into a stay of 27 years. Time flies when you are enjoying yourself! But, eventually, a negative economy fuelled by a corrupt president meant it was time to move again. So, he took an offer to move to the United Arab Emirates in the Middle East, where he has been for the last 11 years.

Through all these moves there was an underlying theme of sport. Trevor was involved in motor racing, rallying, karting, rugby, running and various other sporting activities. So, life was active and busy!

Abhoring English lessons at school - and his English teacher, Miss Watkins, even more - he never considered writing a book till he broke his neck in a sporting accident. Somewhat amazingly, this was not by crashing in a car race or rally. Suddenly, becoming a paralyzed quadriplegic meant he had time on his hands (even if they did not work too well) and the idea of becoming an author came to him in a flash of inspiration. Everyone he told said "Yeah, right!" in a disbelieving tone of voice. Proving the naysayers wrong, his first title, TSB - Confessions of an Ex-Hooker (Aged 66 and a half) a.k.a. DON'T STOP BELIEVIN', is a funny look back on his accident and the subsequent 5 years that it took to become mobile again.

Loving the experience of writing - despite Miss Watkins - he is already planning his next books which will be "pre-quels" about growing up in UK and then moving on to Africa and Asia. Get the first book now and look forward to the next one in the series. Hopefully, in the words of Douglas Adams, Trevor's favourite author, it will be a trilogy in four parts! ENJOY! TSB
