Kimi Y. Bivins was born in 1970 in Newark, NJ, to a teenage mother. Just two weeks later, her mother brought her to Alabama, where she married a soldier. This would later lead Kimi on a 26-year military journey, culminating in her medical retirement as a Sergeant First Class (SFC) in 2014. As a proud single mother, she has a child who graduated from Troy University with both a bachelor's and a master's degree. Kimi herself earned a bachelor's degree in Multidisciplinary Studies, focusing on Entrepreneurial Studies, Psychology, and Military Studies from Troy University, and completed a Master’s in Public Administration in 2023. She is also a grandmother to a lovely little girl and cherishes the time spent with her.
Kimi writes as a therapeutic outlet to manage depression, which inspired her journey to becoming an author. In 2012, she published her debut book, *Overcoming a Broken Heart*, and has since released seven additional books on Amazon. In her free time, she enjoys crafting, baking, writing poetry, and working on self-help books. After the loss of her Shih Tzu Poodle mix, Petey, after 17½ years in 2025, she found herself writing once more.
Kimi believes that true beauty comes from within, emphasizing that the state of one’s heart is what truly matters. Her writings must touch ones heart and spirit. Regarding finances, she adheres to the maxim: “never put all your eggs in one basket.” As a licensed real estate broker, she operates her own brokerage, driven by a passion for educating her community about the significance of establishing their legacy through homeownership and land.
