Born in Finland, Pirkko Rytkonen immigrated to Canada as a child with her family. She was raised in Northwestern Ontario and graduated from Laurentian University and the University of Toronto.
In Between: A True Story of Longing for Love and Letters is her second published book where Pirkko, as a high school student, shares her story of accepting a pen pal relationship with a seminary student who desires to learn English. As the correspondence moves from friendship to soulmate status, she's conflicted. Should she continue or end it? Can they have a future together with all the obstacles in between? The book reads like a novel with some original letters seamlessly intertwined into a beautiful love story.
The Other Child is her first work of fiction about a young woman whose seemingly perfect life crumbles when the son she gave up for adoption finds her twenty years later. She's thrown into a world of codependence due to her son's addiction issues. A world she knows nothing about. She neglects her daughter and husband which almost destroys her marriage. Is love and forgiveness enough?
Pirkko spends some time in the Florida to escape the Canadian winters. She enjoys reading and traveling with her husband. She likes nature walks and loves French Vanilla coffee.
Pirkko has two sons and two granddaughters, and lives with her husband in Ontario, Canada. To learn more about her visit www.pirkkorytkonen.com, where she blogs about God's grace through life's journey and real-life moments.
