Iain Boyd is Chairman of the SPAB (Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings) and a Trustee of ICON (The Institute of Conservation).
Formerly involved in advertising, television production and financial publishing, Iain switched his attention to his love of old buildings in 2007 and holds an MSc in Conservation of the Historic Environment. He lives in a cantankerous GII farmhouse in Kent.
The SPAB was founded by William Morris in 1877 to counteract the destructive 'restoration' of medieval buildings being practised by Victorian architects. Today it is the largest, oldest and most technically expert national pressure group fighting to save old buildings from decay, demolition and damage.
ICON is both a conservation charity and the professional body for conservators of our cultural heritage, raising awareness of the cultural, social and economic value of caring for heritage and championing high standards of conservation.
