It seems that writing a biography is as difficult if not more so than writing my novel. I suppose I am to give some historical details about my life, and tell everyone why I am writing books.
I grew up in Northeast Ohio, and I am the grandson of Scottish immigrants. I earned my Eagle Scout Award during the bicentennial year, and by the time I was 19 I had signed up for the Marines. After being stationed in the south, and having met some of the people who would become my best friends, I moved to Florida after I got out of the service. I have spent most of my life in the South ever since.
I have studied at Kent State University in Ohio, and also at the University of South Carolina. A few years ago I semi-retired, and opened a manufacturing business with my brothers. Being semi-retired has allowed me to finish my first novel, and I am quite proud of that accomplishment.
I have literally worked on the book for decades, and have finally brought it to fulfillment these last few years. I am confident there will be “newbie” mistakes found in my writing, and for that I apologize. I am open to hearing all suggestions and criticisms regarding my work.
The few family and friends who read my raw manuscript did give me some ideas and suggestions, and I made some changes to the manuscript in response to those suggestions. I have noticed that male readers tend to pick up more on the action part of the book, while female readers tend to focus on the relationships.
Plausibility was one reference used in regards to the villains and heroes depicted in the book, and I would like to say that I purposely based my scenario on the improbable. The story unfolds in the most unlikely manner, and that was done on purpose.
I look forward to all comments and criticisms as I begin to write my next novel.
