Clayton Lucas currently lives in the United Kingdom where he is working diligently to complete his PhD dissertation research, "Contested Territories Around Lake Texcoco, Mexico: Local original peoples, their communal land, and protected ecological territories." Before moving to the UK, Clayton studied and served as a full-time lecturer, teaching human and physical geography courses. Before returning to university, Clayton served in municipal government for more than 20 years, as a city manager, police officer, firefighter and urban planner. Additionally, Clayton previously lived in Venezuela for two years where he gained a deep interest and love for Latin America, where he became fluent in Spanish, which continues to fuel his passion for researching the political challenges of countries throughout Latin America.
