When I was a very young child, my mother read to me at bedtime. The stories were nursery rhymes from Mother Goose. My kid's diet of "story" progressed through Dick and Jane to Tex Ritter in comic books. As a middle-grade boy, I enjoyed adventure stories like Robinson Crusoe, Black Beauty, and Swiss Family Robinson.

As I matured, I didn't just want to read stories, I wanted to write them. As a young school teacher, I authored and produced stageplays with my grade two class. One was titled "Peanut Butter and Jam." It was a hit in the school gymnasium. As a middle-aged man, I became involved in amateur theatre as an actor and a stage manager. I also penned a couple of stageplays "Toccata" and "Lady Sarah's Puzzle."

These were followed numerous screenplays including "Houseboat Blues" and "Death by Diamonds." A short career as a journalist produced a number of articles for the Boulevard magazine including "Navigator of the Straits" and "Beer Essentials."

Now, I have turned my hand to novel writing for middle-grade children. My novels and their protagonist Billy Fender can be best described as "Young Sherlock meets the Hardy Boys with the romp of Goonies."

Four novels are now complete in the Billy Fender PI Series: "The Shoebox Mystery", "The Dinosaur Bone Mystery", "The Ghostly Maiden Mystery," and "The Fortune Cookie Mystery." Soon to come will be a fifth "The Radio Signals Mystery."
