Jonathan S. Coley is Associate Professor of Sociology at Oklahoma State University and Editor-in-Chief of The Sociological Quarterly. His first book, Gay on God's Campus: Mobilizing for LGBT Equality at Christian Colleges and Universities (University of North Carolina Press, 2018), examines LGBTQ activist groups mobilizing to transform campus policies and climates at Christian colleges and universities in the United States. His co-edited volume, LGBTQ Religious Activism: Rethinking Identity, Faith, and Social Change (University of North Carolina Press, 2026), examines movements for LGBTQ inclusion within a variety of global religious traditions. In 2025, he received the Early Career Award from the American Sociological Association's Sociology of Religion Section.
