Pamela Conley Ulich

Pamela Conley Ulich was born in Kansas and proudly calls California home.

A first-generation college and law school graduate, Pamela moved to California at 18 to pursue her education and independence. She earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of California, San Diego while working in libraries to help pay for tuition and books, and went on to pass the California Bar in 1993.

Throughout her life, Pamela has questioned the status quo and stood up for working families, women, and communities in transition. She began her legal career representing unions and workers before the National Labor Relations Board, later serving as legal counsel to both the Screen Actors Guild and the Directors Guild of America. She also teaches “Dealmaking in the Entertainment Industry” and as an adjunct professor at USC.

Pamela’s commitment to service extended beyond the courtroom. She was elected to the Malibu City Council in 2004 and reelected with the highest vote total in 2008, serving as Mayor of Malibu during the devastating 2007 wildfires. Her public leadership included spearheading major community initiatives, including library renewal and disaster response, and she was honored with the Dolphin Award for outstanding contributions to Malibu’s civic life.

A mother of two, Pamela made the deliberate decision to step back from full-time legal practice to raise her children while continuing to write, advocate, and serve her community. That experience became the foundation for her memoir The Hood – A Mommy War Memoir, which examines the tension between career ambition and caregiving.

Her most recent work, A Disaster Diary: Learn. Pray. Prepare. Your Faith, Fire and Rising Stronger After Disaster Go-To-Guide, reflects the convergence of her life’s work in law, public service, faith, and storytelling. Born from firsthand experience with wildfires and community loss, the book is part memoir, part prayer, and part practical guide—offering readers tools for emotional healing, spiritual grounding, and real-world disaster preparedness. It serves as both a personal reflection and a call to action: to prepare before the next disaster, to care for the most vulnerable, and to rise stronger together.

Pamela continues to write, teach, and create projects focused on resilience, faith, preparedness, and community healing. She lives in California and believes deeply that preparation is an act of love—and that our greatest strength is found in service to one another.
