Is this a book I'd enjoy reading? That was my guide as I wrote this book. I wanted you to feel like you're taking this fascinating journey with me... including all the highs and lows of a challenging adventure. That's why I went to the added time and expense of including so many color photographs. You'll see what I saw during our trip.... day by day. It's a once-in-a-lifetime experience and I am so very glad I took part in the Ride the Future Tour. As you'll see...it was a lot of work, stress, and fun!
Believe it or not, I knew very little about electric cars when I started driving across the country. I learned along the way. What I did know at the start was that I wanted to do something for my kids--i.e. something that would hopefully leave our Earth as I had entered it--a beautiful and surface live-able planet. However, our trip organizer was a sustainability enthusiast and with her connections and research, she led all of us to people and organizations that significantly enhanced my knowledge about what sustainability really encompasses.
I discuss what I learned about sustainability along the way. What makes my perspective different is that I'm not a tree-hugger...or environmentalist. But what I found in my own research and through experiences during the Tour was that there is a LOT more we can/should be doing regarding sustainability. And I hope that when you've finished the book, you agree with me and want to do more for our future generations' sake. It's not that hard to do.
While this is my first book, I am no stranger to writing. I started writing in high school where I wrote poetry and articles for the high school newsletter. My corporate career kind of honed my technical and editing skills and I now use these skills to develop Do-It-Yourself travel guides for people wanting to set their own sightseeing agenda (funexcursionsinabox.com).
I grew up in Ohio and went to college at the University of Cincinnati where I majored in Metallurgical Engineering and received a Business Certificate. During my corporate career I lived in 7 more locations across the country and have been in all but one state in the U.S. (Alaska is my next target!). As a former executive for Nissan North America, I have over 30 years of Sales & Marketing expertise in the automotive and construction industries. I live in Nashville, TN as an eligible bachelor and I'm the very proud father of two grown daughters.
Join me in "Kicking Gas & Taking Charge!". Remember also that a portion of my proceeds will go to 2 fine charities. And I would love to hear your feedback after your trip!
THANK YOU !
