I'm an Associate Professor of Medieval Literature and Culture at Rutgers University-Camden in Camden, New Jersey. My research to date has involved the study of cuisine and food culture in medieval literature, especially with regard to its political and economic implications. My book, Political Appetites is the product of that program. However, I can see extending my research interests into the development of Old English oral poetry as well as looking at questions of materialism, materialisms, acquisition, and avarice as they are reflected in literature from Beowulf to Ben Jonson. I'm also interested in translation and the ethics of difference in translation theory. I hope to publish further on food and in these newer areas (to me, at least) of endeavor.
